Merlot Chambourcin
“The New World Meets the Old” might be a better name for this wine, or perhaps “Hands Across the Atlantic”… as this wine combines the great Bordeaux grape, Merlot, with its upstart New World hybrid grape, Chambourcin.
Deep ruby in color, bright, yet penetrating, red fruit aromas first greet you, supported by an underpinning of bittersweet chocolate.
There is a bright acidity here, thanks to its cool climate upbringing, with delicate, silky tannins.
The finish of this wine is rich with flavor, with intermingling overtones of cocoa, raspberry, and a hint of vanilla.
Duck, pheasant, or wild game for dinner? Add this bottle to the table!
This wine is meant to be opened now, but it will evolve with another 2-5 years in the bottle.
