Chardonnay Reserve
This chardonnay is made exclusively from the 30 year old vines of the William Penn Vineyard in Chadds Ford, PA.
After a short period of skin contact, fermentation takes place in 50% new and 50% second year French oak barrels. After full malolactic fermentation is complete, it rests on its yeast lees for 8 months to gain complexity and richness.
Deep golden lemon in color, this wine bursts with vibrancy on the palate with lively aromas of juicy apple, tangerine, and orange. The finish is very long, with overtones of vanilla, root spices, and pineapple.
“This wine presents itself to be complex, with a very long finish,” is how winemaker Gino Razzi likes to describe this special selection from his cellar.
Enjoy this wine with Béarnaise sauce or with heavier fish entrees, especially grilled whole fish like Branzino.

Reviews
1WineDude - #6 on the 1WineDude.com Top 10 Most Interesting Wines of 2009 - "Vanilla, tropical fruit, VG acidity. Might be the best E. Coast Chard. I've EVER tasted. Period."
Mark Squires, The Wine Advocate - "This is just lovely, a bit oaky, but crisp, and with a lingering finish. It seems very classy, surprisingly intense, if, like most of the wines here, a bit shy on mid-palate concentration. Still, I think that if Razzi has a big breakthrough here, it will be with this Chardonnay first. 88 points."
