It’s a family affair here at Penns Woods Winery—right down to our vineyard dogs—so we make sure the kiddos are just as comfortable visiting as are the parents (and grandparents, guardians, fun aunts and uncles … you get the idea!). And although we have special events targeted to our future Penns Woods enthusiasts (more on that later), we really pride ourselves on offering kids a safe and fun place to play in and around our comfortable tasting room on our bucolic property in Chadds Ford. Spring, summer and fall are great seasons to bring the family to Penns Woods Winery. The Perfect Play PlaceWe love that there’s plenty of room for a kid to be a kid running around our spacious lawn that borders the vineyard. You can spread out a picnic blanket on the hill, sip on our many wines and watch your kids play. There’s a volleyball court, too, for kids (and parents!) who are game. You’ll also find a container of toys in the tasting room and room on our comfy porch. Visiting the vineyard is kid tested and approved! Super Special EventsDuring the Mother Nature-friendly seasons, we host two special events that kids love: our Painting in Pumpkin Land the three Saturdays before Halloween and our Easter Egg Hunt the Saturday before Easter Sunday. There’s no tricks, but all treats, at Halloween. Kids may choose their own pumpkin from our Penns Woods Pumpkin Patch and decorate to their heart’s content. Parents may also paint, but we notice most are happily wine tasting. Everyone enjoys fun food truck fare and live music. Make sure to visit us in October—and make your reservations early—it’s a scream! After a long winter, we’re always tickled to see the Easter Bunny arrive at our Easter Egg Hunt. A sellout every year, this family fun day features prizes for kids and adults—if your child finds one of the eggs containing raffle tickets, you could win a glass or a bottle of wine or even tickets to one of our other events! It’s a win-win as kids scamper for treats and parents relax at a wine tasting. Great nibbles from food trucks and live music round out the day. We're Dog-Friendly, Too!Wait—no kids? Dog babies are welcome in our outdoor areas. We love our vineyard dogs, so we totally understand that your pooches are part of your family. Bring a leash—and Fido’s favorite blanket, toys and snacks—and play alfresco with your doggie-child. Families have been our focus since day one: we have the land and love to see kids of all ages hanging out. If it’s spring, summer or fall, then it’s the right time to bring the whole family out for a day at the vineyard. Penns Woods Winery is a family-run Pennsylvania winery. What goes better with brisket than a sublime red wine? We admit it—we can’t think of a thing (except perhaps a second glass of red wine). As luck would have it, we have the perfect pairing for a slow-cooked brisket that’s braised in the same: our Bancroft Cabernet Sauvignon. When you sip Penns Woods Winery Bancroft Cabernet Sauvignon you’ll get soft flavors ripe with earthy tannins and savor hints of raisin and black cherry. These deep notes complement the brisket while the wine’s subtle tannic characteristics melt the meat to fork-tender in the oven. This recipe is a show-stopper at parties and holidays yet simple enough for a weekend meal. Enjoy! Cabernet Sauvignon Braised Brisket RecipeIngredients

We’re honored to announce that it’s only April, yet the hard work of our talented president and winemaker Gino Razzi and assistant winemaker and vineyard manager Davide Creato has been noticed (and noticed!), earning our winery a barrelful of awards. “We’re bursting with pride over this recognition,” said co-owner Carley Razzi Mack. “This is welcome acknowledgment that our careful tending of only the highest-quality grapes—right down to our time-consuming but important hand harvesting—creates world-class wines right here in Pennsylvania soil. We’re proud to offer those wines to our customers.” Check out the latest in our growing list of Penns Woods award-winners: 2016 Berlin International Wine Competition (Berlin, Germany)Close to 200 wines from around the world competed.
